Here are the answers to some common questions about teaching on Skill Shop.
How do I list a lesson on Skill Shop?
If you have a skill to teach, send us an email at email@example.com or call us on 020 3239 7466. We’d love to hear from you!
Why are all the lessons in the Bournemouth area?
Unlike many startups, we’ve decided to launch outside of London. We’ve chosen Bournemouth because it’s where we live, and the power of local knowledge can’t be underestimated.
We have grand plans for the future, though…
We’ll be working hard over the next few months to find teachers all over the country. This means that, wherever you are and whatever you can teach, we want to hear from you.
Do I need to have a teaching qualification to teach on Skill Shop?
No. Qualified teachers are very welcome to list, but all we ask is that you have a good understanding of your subject area and a bucket load of enthusiasm.
We know that there are thousands of skilled people out there who’d be able to share their skills, and we don’t think qualifications are the be all and end all.
How should I set my rates?
It’s completely up to you. If you’ve never taught before, we recommend that you take a look at other teacher’s prices to give you an idea. If you still have no idea, we can recommend an amount.
Am I limited to advertising lessons solely through Skill Shop?
Many of our teachers advertise lessons through Skill Shop exclusively, but others also advertise elsewhere through personal websites or in their shops/studios. We’ll never ask you to advertise exclusively on Skill Shop, but the more you do it, the more you help the community of skill teachers around you. By promoting your lessons on the site, you will build up good reviews and you will also be promoting lessons offered by others. This is a community site and the network works best together. You scratch their back, and they’re more likely to scratch yours too.
