  • What You’ll Learn

  • Meet Your Teacher

  • Is it any good?

  • The first questions Mark asks his students is “Have you read the manual that came with your camera?” swiftly followed by, “And how much of it did you understand?” His goal is to turn enthusiastic amateurs into confident, competent photographers who can act on instinct. If you’d like to progress beyond the Automatic mode on your camera, or you’d like some advice on how to frame perfect photographs, a lesson with Mark is the perfect first step. If you’ve already progressed past beginner level, Mark will help you climb the next steps on your journey to professional photography.

  • Mark started taking photos at the age of 12, messing around with his father’s camera. He took a job as a photographic process chemist at the age of 17 supplementing his income with wedding photography and commercial commissions. In 2003 he turned his attention to teaching, starting by teaching darkroom practice at the Arts University, Bournemouth before switching to general photography when digital became the dominant medium among professionals. A true professional and enthusiast, Mark boasts an archive of over 250,000 negatives and is currently building a darkroom in his house to allow him to experiment further with traditional mediums.
